Family Announces Funeral for 16-year Old Crash Victim

The wake and funeral for Tamir Harry will be held Thursday, Sept. 12 and Friday, Sept. 13.

The family of Tamir Harry will be holding a wake and funeral Thursday and Friday, respectively, for the young teen who was killed in a drunk driving accident.

Harry, 16, and Kervin Noel, 21, were killed in the Aug. 6 crash at the intersection of Essex Avenue and South Fourth Street in Maplewood. Harry's older brother, Tahsir, 20, and Rodney Lovius, 21, were seriously injured in the accident. Harrison Allen of Montclair was charged with vehicular homicide and aggravated assault by auto in the incident.

The family was waiting for Tahsir to be come home from the hospital before making funeral arrangements.

Tahsir has been improving and came home from the hospital on Sept. 9, said Aunt Marla Williams-Linton.

The wake will be held at Thursday, Sept. 12 from4 to 8 p.m. at Whigham Funeral home, located at 580 Martin Luther King Blvd. in Newark.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 at Messiah Baptist Church, located at 13-17 Oak Street in East Orange.

Tamir Harry is remembered by family, friends and Columbia High School faculty for being incomparably positive, clever and outgoing.
