SOPAC Nominated For Favorite Performing Arts Center Award

Vote for the South Orange Performing Arts Center before Jan. 22 on JerseyArts.com.

The South Orange Performing Arts Center has been nominated Favorite Performing Arts Center in the Sixth Annual JerseyArts People's Choice Awards.

“The yearly awards program, run by Discover Jersey Arts, honors the work of New Jersey's vital, vibrant and diverse arts organizations,” SOPAC said.

Vote today before time runs out on January 22. Winners will be announced in early February.

Also nominated for the Favorite Performing Arts Center category are: New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), Count Basie Theatre, Mayo Performing Arts Center, McCarter Theatre Center, Bergen Performing Arts Center, Levoy Theatre, State Theatre and Union County Performing Arts Center.

“Organizations listed were nominated by their peers through an online ballot,”JerseyArts.com states on its website. “All organizations registered with the Jersey Arts Marketers were provided one ballot and were restricted from voting for themselves in any category.”

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) has won the Favorite Performing Arts Center all five of the previous People's Choice Awards.

According to its website, “Discover Jersey Arts (DJA) is a cosponsored project of the ArtPride New Jersey Foundation and New Jersey State Council on the Arts working in partnership with other cultural service organizations statewide including the New Jersey Theatre Alliance,South Jersey Cultural Alliance, and New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism. The project’s mission is to increase the awareness of and participation in the arts in New Jersey.”
