South Orange Library Will Host Bestselling Authors

David Lubar and Wendy Mass will speak at the South Orange library on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m.

Acclaimed authors for young readers, David Lubar and Wendy Mass, will discuss their books and their love of reading on Sunday, Feb. 10th, at 2 p.m. at the South Orange Public Library.

The event will be open to the entire family and will be sponsored by the Friends of the South Orange Public Library and Sparkhouse.

David Lubar is an author of numerous books for teens.  He is also an electronic game programmer, who programmed Super Breakout for the Nintendo Game Boy, and Frogger for both the SNES and Game Boy.  As a game designer, he designed the game Frogger2: Swampy’s Revenge for the Nintendo Game Boy Color.  His works include the novel, ” Dunk”, a favorite check out at the library.  It is about a young man at the Jersey shore, where every summer the boardwalk turns into an amusement park. See who gets dunked and why!  Other novels include: “ Dog Days”, Punished”, “Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie”, the Nathan Abercrombie, Accidental Zombie series, which include “My Rotten Life”, “Dead Guy Spy”, “The Big Stink”, and “Enter the Zombie”.  He has also written short stories and video games, including “Home Alone” for Game Boy.

Wendy Mass is the author of eleven novels for young people (which have been translated into 13 languages and nominated for 46 state book awards), including “A Mango-Shaped Space”, which was awarded the Schneider Family Book Award by the American Library Association.  Fans of Wendy Mass love when Rory Swenson turns 12 in her novel “Finally”.  She’s waited her whole life to turn 12.  What is she wishing for?  To wear makeup, to go to the mall with her friends and no parents, and what else?  Read the book to find out, and meet the author. Other novels that Wendy has written include “Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life” (soon to be a feature film), “11 Birthdays”, “Heaven Looks a Lot Like the Mall”, ”Leap Day”, “Every Soul a Star”, ”The Candymakers”, and her latest, “13 Gifts”.

There is no charge for attending, all are welcome and refreshments will be served.
