Day Spa Opens on South Orange Avenue

Indulgence Day Spa offers relaxation and organic products.

Indulgence Day Spa has opened on South Orange Avenue. Owners Joye’ Foust and Patrice Hairston opened the doors to their "dream spa" this summer.  Locals have come on in, including children, men and women.

"We're very proud of the place," says Foust, noting that customers are both and female. Numerous parties have booked the upstairs "loft" space for socializing while party guests take turns at manicures and more.

The spa's crisp black-and-white decor reinvents the space, once an art gallery. The co-owners chose every aspect of the renovation, as well as the careful selection of products used.

They're proud to point out that the pedicure tubs are stainless steel and free of the water jets that can be come bacteria-laden. Likewise, their equipment is sanitized to a medical standard. Polishes and products are organic, and include brands such as Butter, imported from Europe.

Massages are a spa specialty and include the hard-to-find Gua Sha Candle Massage, a technique rooted in Chinese medicine. Indulgence offers waxing for men and women, as well as facials and overall skin treatments.

And, as the owners point out, what's a spa without a manicure and pedicure? The Coconut Mint Sugar Scrub Therapy is a new, aromatic twist on the traditional "mani/pedi."

Foust trained at The Christine Valmy International School of Esthetics and Makeup, New York and the Dermal Institute of Skin Care Therapy and Beneficial International. She has worked New York Fashion Week for designers Alexander Wang, Nicole Miller, Calvin Klein, Erin Fetherston, Yigal Azrouel, Aldo and Ports 1961. She has also modelled and acted with Sarah Jessica Parker, Jon Bon Jovi and the late Luther Vandross.

Hairston has more than 20 years experience in the industry and has worked with some of the leading five-star resorts in New York City such as the Plaza Hotel and the Mandarin Oriental. She has also had the opportunity to work with various luxury spas in the industry.

"Come in and visit," says the co-owners. "Even just stopping by is a relaxing break in the day."
