Couto DeFranco's Nelson Couto Marks Two Decades as CFP®

West Orange, N.J.: Nelson Couto, a partner with the NJ CPA firm of Couto DeFranco, PA in West Orange, recently marked his 20th year as a certified financial planner (CFP®). To earn the CFP® designation, Couto met the rigorous demands of the CFP® Board of Standards, which included successfully passing the challenging CFP® certification exam and meeting the board’s requirements for ethics and experience in the field. In the two decades since becoming a CFP®, Couto has continued to meet the CFP® Board’s on-going education requirements and financial planning practice standards.

Couto is recognized as a leader in the field of wealth management, where he combines his CFP® knowledge with his 25 years as a certified public accountant to help his clients with their wealth management and tax planning needs so they can reach their financial goals and aspirations.

“I believe the best way to help people reach their financial goals is simple: I listen. I listen to where they are today and where they want to be tomorrow,” Couto says. “As I get to know my clients and they get to know me, a relationship of trust develops. They are paying me for my knowledge—both as a certified public accountant and a certified financial planner—so it is my responsibility to work with them to develop a financial plan that is sound, objective and honest.”

Couto and his partner, Anthony DeFranco, established the CPA firm of Couto DeFranco, PA  in 1992 and are located in West Orange, N.J.  The firm serves individuals, businesses, estates and trusts.
