American Idol Auditions This Weekend!

Registration begins Thursday at 6 a.m. at Prudential Center

Mulberry Street in Newark, between Lafayette Street and Edison Place, will be closed to traffic effective today, Wednesday, until Saturday at 3 p.m. for "American Idol" auditions.

More than 15,000 contestants are expected at the Prudential Center this week to try out for the 12th season of the hit talent show. Registration for auditions begin Thursday at 6 a.m. and will continue until 6 a.m. Saturday. Actual auditions will begin 6 a.m. Saturday and continue all day.

Mayor Cory Booker wished all contestants good luck, adding that the city is proud to be hosting the show.
