Snowplows, Sleds and Shovels

A look at the first snowstorm of winter.

The snow got serious as darkness fell Saturday and continued through the night. Traffic was light, even on main streets, except for the Village vehicles.

Snowplows and salt trucks, with Village employees at the helm, worked through the night. By 8 a.m. Sunday, when these photos were taken, the surface of main streets was visible through the snow. Likewise, a Board of Education employee plowed the Montrose School parking lot, well in advance of Monday.

Sorry, kids, no snow day this time, but it's a perfect day for sledding on Floods Hill. As early as 7:30, two intrepid sledders were making tracks in the fresh powder. And the slopes were packed by afternoon.
