How Did South Orange Vote Wednesday?

See how a majority of South Orange residents cast their vote.

Newark Mayor Corey Booker won election to the U.S. Senate Wednesday, defeating Steve Lonegan in the race to replace the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

Booker won by a landslide in Essex County with 77 percent of the vote. Lonegan garnered 21 percent of the vote and the other six lesser-known candidates each received a fraction of a percent.

South Orange reflected those numbers with 87 percent going to Booker and 12 percent going to Lonegan and again, a fraction of a percent to the other candidates.

South Orange had a slightly higher voter turnout than Essex County overall, with 30.79 percent of voters turning out to the polls. The voter turnout in Essex County was 23.59 percent.
