2013 FREE Summer Concerts in the Park

 

Free Concerts in the Park, an annual series of eclectic summer concerts, returns for its twenty-first year and will take place every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. from July 10 until August 7 at Floods’ Hill in Meadowlands Park at 70 North Ridgewood Road, South Orange, N.J. A variety of food and beverage vendors will be on-site at each week’s concert. All are welcome to attend.

Each year, Free Concerts in the Park presents top performers in various musical genres like reggae, rock, jazz, pop, soul and R&B. This year’s line-up includes the following performers:

-       July 10 - STILETTO: THE SONGS OF BILLY JOEL & ELTON JOHN -Featuring Movin’ Out’s ‘Piano Man’ Matthew Friedman

-       July 17 – KIWI – Jersey City-based band playing Reggae Rhythms and Tropicália-Inspired Melodies

-       July 24 - CHERYL ‘PEPSII’ RILEY - Actress and singer Cheryl, performing R&B/Soul music.

-       July 31 - MICHAEL HILL’S BLUES MOB – Four-member band playing original New York Style Blues

-       August 7 - ROCK THE HILL - Featuring performances by various local garage bands.

Food vendors include: St. James Gate, Pizza Vita Pizza Truck, and Lickt Gelato, serving a variety of fresh pizza, lobster rolls, salad and handcrafted gelato and sorbet at each week’s performance.  Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, friends, and family for a fun-filled summer evening of live entertainment and a variety of food.

Free Concerts in the Park is presented by the
Village of South Orange, the Baird, and South Orange Performing Arts Center and is
made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the
Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the
Arts, and the South Orange Municipal Alliance Governor's Council on Alcoholism
and Drug Abuse.
