Fired Up for Giving Thanks

In the quaint village of South Orange, it’s comforting to

know that the Village fire department’s motto is “We are here to serve and

protect you.” The Zeta Tau chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta will be hosting a card-making
station in the University Center's lobby to recognize the hard work of
the SOFD. Last year, the average number of reported residential building

fires on Thanksgiving Day was almost double (1.9 times more) the average number

of fires in residential buildings on all days other than Thanksgiving,

according to the USFA. Both cooking fires and heating fires are the most prevalent

on this family holiday. With the 13th anniversary of the tragic

Boland Hall fire approaching this January, Alpha Gamma Delta at Seton Hall

would like to recognize the South Orange Fire Department this November for

their dedication to protecting the town of South Orange, including our home at SHU. The goal of the South Orange Fire Force is to strive to reduce and completely

eliminate fire/emergency matters. The department achieves their goals through

educational programs and through inspections.
