Give the Gift of Literacy: Volunteer tutors needed!

Literacy Volunteers of America, Essex & Passaic Counties, offers instruction to volunteers interested in tutoring adults in basic literacy and English.

Your help is urgently needed. Knowledge of a foreign language and teaching experience are not necessary. The only requirements are a high school diploma, patience and a willingness to help others.

So join us for a series of training workshops at the South Orange Public Library, 65 Scotland Road, South Orange, from 12:15-4:45 pm, for four Saturdays:  Oct. 19, 26, Nov. 2, 9, 2013.

Training leads to our certificate as a tutor of Basic Literacy and English for Speakers of Other Languages. Tutors who complete our workshops will be matched with students on the final day of training. They volunteer two hours of their time each week, for a minimum of one year.Registration is required. Please contact LVA at 973-566-6200, ext. 217, or lvaessex@verizon.net to register for the upcoming four-session South Orange workshop. Or register online at www.lvanewark.org/
