Dr. Turk will join the Summer Stars Festival Orchestra, conducted by Tramm, for two pieces for organ and orchestra, “I’m going to be playing the Symphony in G Minor by Charles-Marie Widor, and also a work that has never been performed in Ocean Grove, and rarely has been performed at all,” Turk says. “That is the Concerto in E-flat Minor by Horatio Parker.” Parker was a respected composer in his day, a prolific writer of oratorios and cantatas. As Organist in Residence at Ocean Grove, Dr. Turk directs and plays weekly concerts in one of the oldest on-going summer organ festivals in the US (established in 1908).

Byung-Kook Kwak will appear as soloist in Saint-Saens’ “Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso”. His instrument, created by the legendary Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in 1751, was played by Adolf Brodsky when he gave the world premiere of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. He has enjoyed a versatile career as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator. Mr. Kwak has received critical acclaim for performances with orchestras such as Baltimore Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, American Symphony, and the Los Angeles Chamber Symphony. In Europe, he has appeared as a soloist with Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Cologne Radio Orchestra, Bamberger Symphony, Rotterdam Philharmonic, and French National Orchestra.
