The Greater Newark Conservancy promotes environmental stewardship to improve the quality of life in New Jersey’s urban communities.

URBAN HABITATS for grades 1-3 and parent/guardian.
Saturday, Apr. 5, 10:30am-12pm
Discover the wild side of the city. From ladybugs to mammals and birds to earthworms, you will explore where and how plants and animals live in our urban environment. You will also learn about the behaviors, adaptations, habitat requirements, and characteristics of urban wildlife. Indoor & Outdoor. 
Course: 0029. Fee: $30 (adult & child pair).

WHAT’S THE BUZZ for grades 1-3 and parent/guardian.

Explore the fascinating world of insects. Metamorphosis, insect anatomy, and insect impacts on human society are among the topics covered by this inquiry based program. Program culminates in an insect safari. Indoor & Outdoor.
Course: 0030. Fee: $30 (adult & child pair).

WORM IN THE CITY: URBAN RECYCLERS for grades 4-6 and parent/guardian.
Saturday, Mar. 22, 10:30am-12pm
Discover how these wriggling creatures turn garbage into compost. Using stereo microscopes, you’ll examine an active worm bin, explore a compost ecosystem and food web, and examine worm anatomy and natural history. Students will then visit an active garden compost system. Primarily Indoor.
