PREPARING PARENTS FOR THE COLLEGE PROCESS

PREPARING PARENTS FOR THE COLLEGE PROCESS
with the south orange-maplewood adult school

The college process can appear daunting and overwhelming, even to parents who have been through it before. With the introduction of technology, many components of the process are in a constant state of change. This workshop is designed to demystify the college process and identify useful resources.

The workshop will begin with a timeline of the process year by year, include a discussion of testing (SAT/ ACT/ SAT subject tests), and will demonstrate a college search using Naviance, the college information system currently being used in a great majority of local high schools. Participants will leave with a road map and practical information on how to begin preparation for the search, application and selection of colleges. Open to parents of students in grades 10-12. JOE HANLON is a 34-year veteran guidance counselor from a high-performing suburban school district. He brings knowledge as both a counselor and parent to the table.

Course: 0039.
Fee: $30.
