Step Up for Israel Advocacy Summit

Andrew Tabler, Syria and Middle East expert at the Washington Institute on Near East Policy, will discuss “Chaos in the Middle East: A Threat or Opportunity for Israel” as keynote speaker at the Step Up for Israel Advocacy Summit on Sunday, October 20.

A forum for learning tools to counter assaults on Israel’s legitimacy, participants will interact with experts from leading advocacy and policy organizations who will address the dangers Israel faces and provide attendees with the tools to speak up for Israel with confidence. The program will take place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Alex Aidekman Family Jewish Community Campus, 901 Rt. 10, Whippany. Optional interactive advocacy workshops will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

The keynote will be followed by four panel discussions: “The Race to an Iranian Nuke: Is Iranian Nuclear Physics Beating Western Pressure?”; “Branding Israel: Accentuate the Positives”; “Step Up for Israel: What You Can Do in Greater MetroWest”; and Redefining Zionism: Celebrating Israel as Jewish, Democratic, and Meaningful to Us.”

The sessions will teach participants how to respond to misinformation and false accusations at the UN as well as about the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, college campus advocacy, media monitoring, and advocacy at the local state, and national levels.

Free and open to the public, the summit is being sponsored by the Community Relations Committee of Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, AJC/NJ, and the Washington Institute for Near East Policy in partnership with area synagogues and organizations.
