1,000 Volunteer Serve for September 11th Day of Service & Remembrance

Jersey Cares will mobilize 300 volunteers, who are part of a week-long event including 1,000 volunteers giving back in over 30 service projects in 13 counties across New Jersey. With these projects, volunteers will demonstrate that the actions of September 11, 2001, which were design to foster division and animosity, have instead brought unity and service both in New Jersey and throughout America.

Over 300 Jersey Cares volunteers will be working at Malcolm X. Shabazz High School, located in the south ward of Newark. Volunteers will be painting inspirational murals throughout the school and outside perimeter, assembling picnic tables and benches, leading recreational and educational workshops with youth from Operation Military Kids and assembling no-sew fleece scarves and assorted patriotic crafts that will be donated to Home Front Hearts.

Registration is required.
