20 Most Dangerous State Roads In New Jersey

We bring you the state roadways that had the highest accident rates in New Jersey in 2012.

We wanted to take a look at what state roads or highways have the most traffic accidents, so we dove into New Jersey Department of Transportation stats to find the routes that have the highest number of crashes-per-million-miles-traveled on each road.

Please note that the most crashes happen on shorter roadways that are major, congested access points to New York City. But some longer roadways – such as Route 27 in Middlesex and Mercer counties, Route 124 in Morris and Essex counties and Route 88 in Ocean County – found their way onto this list. We eliminated state routes that were completely “concurrent” with other, longer state roads.
