Additional Reports of Stolen Wheels, Temporary Plate, Recovered Auto

The South Orange police report

Thieves in South Orange targeted wheels and a temporary license plate in several incidents over the last several days, South Orange police said. A number of residents previously reported the theft of wheels.

On Feb. 13, two cars parked in Our Lady of Sorrows lot had their wheels removed between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Cell phones, cash and a laptop were stolen from the vehicles.

On Feb. 14, a witness told an off-duty South Orange police officer he saw a man remove a temporary license plate from the rear bumper of a Mercedes Benz parked in the NJ Transit Lot. The witness said the man got into the passenger side of a blue BMW, which was being driven by another man, and the vehicle then fled.
