Alleged Thief Tricks Kid, Takes Off With Cell Phone

South Orange Police make arrest on Connett Pl.

The following arrest information was provided by the South Orange Police Department. The subject is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.

A 21-year-old Irvington man asked a juvenile to use a cell phone and then ran off with it, police officials said.

Samuel Jean was arrested on Monday, June 9, at about 3:45 p.m., and charged with the theft, which allegedly occurred on Raymond Avenue.

Jean was spotted by police running through a back yard on Connett Pl., officials said. When he was stopped and questioned, police said they found him with the stolen phone.
