Maplewood Man Killed After Knocked Off Connecticut Bridge

Emmanuel Felix, 39, was fatally struck while changing a tire on Interstate 95.

A Maplewood man who was changing a flat tire was killed Saturday night when he was struck by a vehicle and knocked off a bridge on Interstate 95 in Connecticut.

Emmanuel Felix, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene beneath the Moses Wheeler Bridge that spans the Housatonic River on I-95 in Milford, Conn., according to the Connecticut Post.

Felix was traveling southbound with five others when he pulled to the right side of the bridge to fix the tire at about 10 p.m. Saturday, according to the report.

Felix and three of his passengers were changing the tire when Natalie Rojas, 19, of Bridgeport, Conn., struck emergency triangles that were set up in the roadway, turned sharply into the center lane and then back to the right where she struck Felix and another pedestrian, the report said.

Lionel Bonhomme, of Brooklyn, N.Y, sustained a serious leg injury in the accident, the report said.

No charges were immediately filed and the accident remains under investigation.
