Maplewood Volunteer Killed in Christmas Crash

A Maplewood volunteer was killed in a car accident, while returning from a local senior citizens center.

A Denville woman was killed in a car crash Christmas night in Hanover Township while returning from Maplewood senior citizens home.

Eileen Racioppi was on her way home after volunteering at a Maplewood senior citizens home when her 1999 Cadillac left the roadway and sideswiped a utility pole before continuing north, where it struck a small cluster of trees, according to NJ.com.

According to the report, several motorists stopped to assist the driver and were able to speak with her but she was not responsive or breathing by the time Patrol Officer Bryan Pilipie arrived at the scene.

According to her obituary, Racioppi's funeral services were held on Monday.
