National Night Out Returns to South Orange Tuesday

Annual event brings cops and citizens together for learning and fun for an important effort: fighting crime.

South Orange’s fourth annual National Night Out is almost here. The community minded educational event that's also fun for the whole family takes place Tuesday from 6:30-10 p.m. on Flood's Hill.

NNO involves citizens, public safety agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials in towns across the U.S.  The event is designed to share crime prevention tips, foster partnerships between law enforcement and the community and build neighborhood spirit.

The event features law enforcement displays, informational booths, raffles, a Kids Zone with a dunk tank, bounce houses, face painting and more. Per tradition, an outdoor movie will be shown on a jumbo screen at 8:30 p.m.: "Despicable Me," starring Steve Carell. Residents are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair.
