Resident alerted officer to the boys, who were found with wire cutters and charged with burglary.

South Orange Police arrested two 13-year-old Orange residents who were attempting to steal bicycles from a garage on Meadowbrook Lane, Chief James Chelel said.

After being alerted by a resident, police found one of the boys entering the garage on Wednesday just after 6:30 p.m., Chelel said. The teens ran away and were caught by an officer, Chelel said. The teens were found with wire cutters, Chelel said. The boys were charged with possession of burglary tools and burglary.

"We appreciate help from the community," Chelel said.
