South Orange police report three recent arrests

South Orange police arrested two men and a teenage boy in separate shoplifting incidents.

Robert Achia, 42, of Newark, was arrested on Thursday after a Pathmark security officer reported seeing him place groceries in a blue tote bag.  Achia was held by Pathmark security until South Orange police officers arrived. The shoplifted items totaled $182.82.

Also on Thursday South Orange police arrested Kenneth Grant, 41, of East Orange for allegedly shoplifting from Rite Aid.  After store employees saw Grant shoplifting, they called the South Orange police. Police found a man matching the description on Prospect Street.

Police also learned that there was also an outstanding arrest warrant for Grant out of Bloomfield.

The AT&T store on South Orange Avenue reported a shoplifting incident on Sunday.  A store employee told police that he saw a teenager wearing a green t-shirt, blue shorts with a red stripe, red socks and black sneakers enter his store, and look at an iPhone case.

After the teen left, the employee noticed that a hard cover for an iPhone was missing from the plastic case.  South Orange police stopped a person who matched the description in front of the South Orange Post Office.  The store employee identified the teen, a 16-year-old juvenile from Irvington, who was then arrested.
