Plane Overturned While Landing, Injuring 2, Cops Say

Both occupants of a twin-engine plane that at Hillsborough's Central Jersey Regional Airport suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Alfonso Meghnagi, 44, of Princeton, and Stuart Rosenberg, 44, of South Orange, were on board the 1980 Beechwood twin engine aircraft that overturned while attempting to land at about 11:30 a.m., Hillsborough Police said.

The plane struck a metal fence and a parked trailer located in the northwest area of the airport, police said. When officers arrived, the two occupants were out of the plane and receiving assistance from bystanders, police said.

Meghnagi suffered a lower-leg injury and was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, police said. Rosenberg suffered minor injuries and was transported by the Hillsborough Rescue Squad to RWJH, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.

In addition to the Hillsborough police and rescue squad, Hillsborough fire units Nos. 36, 37 and 38, the Somerset County MICU, Hillsborough Office of Emergency Management, Hillsborough Fire Safety Office, Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, Somerset County Office of Emergency Management, New Jersey State Office of Emergency Management, New Jersey State Police Northstar, the New Jersey State Department of Transportation and the FAA responded to the scene.
