Seton Hall Student Charged with False Robbery Report

A Piscataway man told South Orange police he had been robbed.

A 21-year-old Seton Hall University student, who told police he had been robbed in South Orange Tuesday, has been charged with filing a false report.

South Orange police said Keith Washington of Piscataway told police he had been robbed on South Orange Avenue on Jan. 22 in the early evening. Officers from both the Patrol Division and Detective Division were sent to investigate and look for a suspect.

However, after further investigation, police found the robbery never took place.
