Three Teens Accused of Pool Cell Phone Thefts

South Orange boys arrested Wednesday in connection with recent series of incidents at town pool.

One 13-year-old and two 14-year-old boys were arrested Wednesday in connection with a recent rash of cell phone thefts at the South Orange Pool, Chief James Chelel said.

Detective Steve Davenport arrested the three South Orange residents after numerous interviews and doing "a lot of footwork," Chelel said. Police charged the teens with theft and possession of stolen property, Chelel said, adding that the 13-year-old allegedly stole cash in addition to cell phones.

Davenport was able to recover the stolen cell phones, said Chelel, who commended the "good detective work done by the Juvenile Crime Bureau.

"We are not going to tolerate this at the pool," Chelel said. "People go there to enjoy themselves."
