South Orange Police Investigate Three Friday Burglaries

Three Burglaries occurred within two miles on Friday, police say.

South Orange Police are investigating three residential burglaries which all occurred within two miles of each other on Friday, Sept. 13, according to police reports.

A Meadowbrook lane resident told police she heard a noise around 3:15 a.m. on Friday. She went down into her kitchen and discovered that someone had entered her house and stole a laptop, a watch, and a wallet from her kitchen.

Also on Friday, Sept. 13, a North Ridgewood resident was home at 2:30 a.m. when her home alarm went off. She went downstairs to find her back door open, which was left unlocked. Several hours later she noticed that her purse was missing and called police.

Police were called to North Woods Drive on Friday, Sept. 13 to investigate an incident from the night before in which a resident came home at 9:45 p.m. and saw someone flee from the back of his house.

The unknown person broke a side window with a lawn ornament to gain access to the home, police said. Once inside the person ransacked the master bedroom before fleeing, they added. No items are believed to be missing.

South Orange Police Officers along with the Essex County K-9 unit and searched the area with negative results.

The Detective Bureau is investigating all incidents.
