South Orange Sees Numerous Bike Thefts

The Community Relations Bureau will lend residents an engraving tool

South Orange has seen a number of bicycles stolen in recent weeks.

A Hillside Pl. resident stated that sometime between July 16 and July 21, a grey 10 speed Peugeot bicycle and a white Bmx bicycle were stolen from a storage area under her house.

A Meadowbrook Lane resident reported that sometime overnight on July 10, an "old style" bicycle with red handle bars was removed from his backyard.

A Hartford Rd. resident said that sometime between July 2 and 4,  a gold Trek bicycle was taken from his unlocked garage.

A Warwick Ave. resident reports that  sometime between June 22 and July 7, two bicycles (Men's Miyata Hybrid color blue, and a Woman's Schwinn mountain bike color light blue) were stolen from her unlocked garage.

The Community Relations Unit of the South Orange Police Department has an engraving tool for citizen use so bicycles and other property can be affixed with a permanent I.D. number.  This item is loaned at no cost, and instructions are provided.
