Tire Thieves Strike Again

Tires were stolen off of two cars parked overnight in the Middle School lot, police say.

South Orange Police are searching for vandals who stole all four tires off two cars which were parked overnight on Saturday.

The 2013 Honda and 2003 Infinity were parked overnight in the Middle School lot. Police believe the tires were stolen between 2 and 4 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Similar incidents occurred in which tires were stolen off of three cars between Oct. 17 and Oct. 20.

On Thursday, Oct. 17, two Ridgewood Road residents reported that their cars had been broken into while parked overnight in the Middle School parking lot.

Both 2013 Hondas were missing all four tires and had damage to both the front passenger side windows, police said.

Just a few days later, on Sunday, Oct. 20, a Staten Island resident reported that all four tires were removed from his 2011 Dodge Charger while parked in a lot adjacent to Third St.

“We have a lead that we are following,” South Orange Police Chief James Chelel told the South Orange Board of Trustees.

The Detective Bureau is investigating the incidents and police could not comment further or provide more details so as not to compromise the investigation.
