De-Leveling the System, Parnassian Production This Week in South Orange

What's on the agenda in town this week.

School is back in regular session in South Orange - Maplewood this week. (Also, the district recently announced a new calendar for the current school year.)

The Capital Plan Community Forum that was rescheduled to November 27 has been cancelled. According to district representatives, it will take place sometime in the spring.

The South Orange/Maplewood Chapter of Mothers & More will host its annual preschool meeting on Wednesday from 7 - 9 p.m. in the Memorial Room of the Maplewood Memorial Library (51 Baker Street). Participants can discuss their thoughts about their preschool experiences. The meeting is open to the public. (Through the end of the year, Mothers & More is offering a $20, 6-month membership special to new members.)

"De-leveling the System," a documentary by Cris Thorne (CHS '06) premiers Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Maplewood Movie Theater. The film explores de-leveling in the South Orange - Maplewood School District. Tickets are $25; part of the proceeds will be donated to the Columbia High School Scholarship Fund. Columbia High School's Parnassian Society will present "You Can't Take it With You." Performances are Thursday, November 29, Friday, November 30, and Saturday, December 1st at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 2nd at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12. On Saturday, at 11am, Miss Marilyn and "Walter," the guitar will perform in the Children's Room at the South Orange Public Library. All are welcome; no fee, no registration required.
