As of Friday afternoon at 2pm, a State of Emergency exists in South Orange, and a State of Snow Emergency exists county-wide in Essex County.

Because of the impending snowfall and high winds Friday afternoon into Saturday, on-street parking is prohibited, and we ask that residents not travel on the roads unless absolutely necessary or an emergency. This will allow emergency vehicles and snow removal crews to be able to perform their jobs most effectively.

The Baird Center at 5 Mead Street will be made available as a shelter tonight and tomorrow as needed. If you need to utilize the shelter, or have any other needs please contact the South Orange Police Department at 973 763 3000 non-emergency, or 9-1-1 for emergencies. If you experience a power outage or see a downed wire, please contact PSE&G at 1-800-436-PSEG.
