South Orange Opens Cooling Stations

The Village of South Orange Tuesday announced that cooling stations are open around the village.

As temperatures are forecasted to remain above 90 degrees throughout the week, Township of South Orange Village has cooling centers for residents at the following locations:

South Orange Public Library - 65 Scotland Road, South Orange NJ 07079

Monday 9 am - 9 pm (children: 12 pm - 9 pm)

Tuesday 9 am - 9 pm (children: 9 am - 6 pm)

Wednesday 9 am - 6 pm

Saturday CLOSED

Sunday 1 pm - 5 pm

Saturday 9:00 am to 4:30 pm

Village Hall – 101 South Orange Avenue, South Orange, NJ 07079

Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4 pm

Friday, July 19th  Village Hall will be closed at 12 noon.

The South Orange downtown business district also is a great place to cool down and enjoy good food, excellent shopping and wonderful entertainment.

Please remember heat stroke is a threatening condition and heat exhaustion can also require hospital care. When the weather turns extremely hot and humid, it's vital to drink plenty of fluids, spend time in cool places and reduce or reschedule any physical activity.

Residents should also remember to check on elderly family members and neighbors to make sure they are safe.
