After-School Program Responds to Friday's Events

The SACC program assures parents

The district-hosted after-school programs, the School Age Child Care program run by the South Mountain YMCA, Monday released a statement to concerned families:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have all been shocked and saddened by the tragic events that occurred in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday. Our hearts go out to the families and we are all keeping them in our thoughts and prayers.

The safety and well-being of children in our care has been and will continue to be our first priority. Children are at the very core of our mission and events like this only strengthen our resolve to do everything in our power to continue to keep your children safe.

I want to take this opportunity to assure you that the YMCA maintains rigorous protocols and practices regarding child safety. In order to protect every child in our facilities and after school programs, we will be reviewing all of our procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment.

If you have any questions or want to discuss this at all, please don't hesitate to contact your School Age Child Care Director, Executive Director or me directly.

Sincerely,

Richard K. Gorab
