The Weekly Sports Rundown - November 6

A look back at the week in sports

Columbia High School weekly sports wrap:

The girl volleyball team ended its season on a good note, earning a 2-0 win over Belleville (25-18, 25-18). Jahaan Scipio and Helena Jones both finished with five kills in the COugar win. Sera Kantor added 11 digs. Columbia ended its season with a 6-13 record.

Girls soccer:

Columbia was not able to get out of the first round this season, losing to Hunterdon Central, 2-1, in the opening round of the North II Group 4 state sectional playoffs. They have one game remaining on their schedule, against Caldwell on Tuesday. A win would give them a .500 record for the year, as they are currently 7-8-2.

Boys soccer:

The Cougar boys were able to salvage a win at the end of a tough season. They earned a 3-2 win over Newark East side on Wednesday to finish up with a 4-13-1 record.

Football:

It was a tough week for the Cougar football team which lost twice in a span of five days because of last weekend's snow postponing a game. They lost 46-0 to Montclair and 48-0 to Shabazz. Columbia is now 1-7.
