NJT and South Orange: A Call To Action

A Call to Action to the commuters to speak directly with NJ Transit Officials about the Schedule

A Call to Action:

As you have likely heard, local elected officials met with representatives of NJ Transit yesterday and were advised that only very minor changes will be made to the evening train schedule - and that such changes will not be implemented for another two months (press release can be seen athttp://southorange.patch.com/blog_posts/first-steps-to-improve-midtown-d...).

We believe - and hope that you feel the same way - that these changes are insufficient and fail to address the inadequate train service provided to commuters utilizing the South Orange train station.  Representatives from NJ Transit will be in attendance at Monday's South Orange Board of Trustees meeting and we intend to be there to express our dissatisfaction and press for further changes to the schedule to restore service to an acceptable level.

We also believe that in addition to our local officials, our representatives in Trenton (Codey, Jasey, and McKeon) should be encouraged to take stronger action to support the restoration of train service.

Please know that this is not about who gets the credit - it is, and always has been, about restoring train service to an acceptable level.

Again, we hope that you will join us in expressing your dissapointment with the very minor adjustments to the train schedule at the South Orange Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, January 28th, at 8:00 in Village Hall. Please RSVP so we know how many people to expect at http://www.facebook.com/events/397986810293209

Your continued support in this effort is greatly appreciated.
