Cal Ripken, Jr. to Speak in South Orange

The world famous baseball Hall of Famer and former player for the Baltimore Orioles will speak at Seton Hall.

Seton Hall University's Student Activities Board (SAB) announces the spring speaker for their SHU Speaks series is Cal Ripken, Jr., world famous baseball Hall of Famer and former player for the Baltimore Orioles. Ripken will speak on March 14, at 7 p.m., in the Main Lounge of the Bishop Dougherty University Center.

Ripken played for the Baltimore Orioles as a shortstop and third baseman for 21 years. He is also well known for his philanthropic efforts, including founding the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation. The Foundation works with underprivileged children and gives them the opportunity to attend baseball camps and learn the game.  

Ripken's speech topic is "The Keys to Perseverance."

Tickets were made available to students on Feb. 14. On March 1, tickets will go on sale to faculty, staff, and others for $10 through eventbrite.com
