This weekend, 122 teams and 310 volunteers came together to play a total of
230 soccer games around our towns. Teams from Sayreville, Tenafly, Roxbury, Skylands, Union, Sussex County and many more showed up to play in the annual tournament. Among the many Maplewood and South Orange fields used this weekend, Millburn High School and fields in Orange were also used.
Teams ranging from U7 through U19 played in at least three games during the tournament, with some teams playing up to five games. The Cougar Kickers got show off their skills as they played mini-games at Floods Hill in South Orange.
Coach Gene Chyzowych, renowned teacher and coach at Columbia High School, was at several of the games observing local athletes.
During this year's tournament, M.E.N.D. (, challenged all teams to bring a bag of food to be donated to food pantries around the area. The team with the most bags donated, will win tickets to an upcoming Red Bulls game.
