South Mountain Fall Soccer - Registraion begins!

South Mountain Soccer is a recreational soccer program sponsored by the South Orange Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs for South Orange and Maplewood children in grades 3 through 8. The program offers a wide range of opportunity for players at all skill levels in the fall and/or spring seasons. Each season is approximately 10 weeks long and includes professional training one day a week and a game each weekend. There are no tryouts for this program. Children are registered in the age/grade appropriate division.

Generally, the divisions are broken down as follows:

U10* - Grades 3 and 4
U12* - Grades 5 and 6
U14* - Grades 7 and 8

* Players must be below the league age as of August 1. (For example: a U10 player can not turn 10 before August 1, 2012).

The fall season is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of September 3rd and ends in mid-November. Practices are held one day a week, either on Tuesday or Thursday.

IMPORTANT SCHEDULING NOTE FOR FALL 2012
The schedule of South Mountain Soccer training and games may differ from other spring/fall seasons because of work planned at New Waterlands this fall.  Team training for some age groups may take place in the afternoons instead of evenings.  Games will likely be held on Saturday and/or Sunday and may be played earlier in the day than past seasons.  All schedules also may include more AWAY games.  A definitive schedule will not be available until mid-August.
Players will be notified of training sites, training nights and team assignment in late August.

The registration deadline is July 15th or when the program is fully enrolled, whichever comes first. You can also register online - www.thebaird.org

EARLY REGISTRATION IS ENCOURAGED.

Residents are encouraged to place their name on the waiting list if/when the program is fully enrolled. If sufficient numbers warrant, additional teams will be created and those on the waiting list will be contacted.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: The success of the South Mountain Soccer Program can be attributed to the many parent volunteers who help out in a variety of ways. For a detailed description of Volunteer Opportunities and a Volunteer Application, see The Baird web site or call 973-378-7754.
