Seton Hall invites community to SHU Weekend 2013

Seton Hall Weekend runs from Oct. 4 to Oct. 6

Seton Hall University will hold Seton Hall Weekend 2013, from Oct. 4-6. The main events will be held Saturday, October 5. All events are free and open to the public.

The Seton Hall University Green will serve as the centerpiece for SHU Weekend festivities. From 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., families will find endless entertainment here. Join President Esteban, the SHU cheerleaders, and the pep band as they welcome visitors, alumni, families, and current students to Seton Hall Weekend. For the adventurers, the Student Alumni Association will be sponsoring a campus-wide scavenger hunt from their table.

Participants of all ages are invited to follow the clues and compete for prizes. Pirate Land will offer even more events for all ages. Pumpkin painting, various arts and crafts, archery, inflatable rides, games, kite making, face painting, caricature drawings, pictures with the Pirate mascot, tie dying, and a photo booth are just a few of the activities available within Pirate Land. The Main Stage will also be located on the Green; live music and student performances will be taking place on the stage throughout the day.

Pirate Alley and Community Row will allow visitors a chance to stop at the tables of various SHU and community organizations to learn more about how these organizations are impacting the greater community.

Just for the kids, Seton Hall students will be directing and performing two Theatre-In-The-Round performances, held at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., in the University Center. The event will be a production of A Tale of Sleeping Beauty. Seating for the performances will be first come, first serve.

Also taking place will be a scrimmage between the 2013-14 Men’s and Women’s basketball teams, set to take place in the Walsh Gymnasium at 1 p.m. After the game, stick around for opportunities to take pictures and get autographs from the Division I athletes, as well as face painting and various giveaways.

Participants in Seton Hall Weekend won’t have to find their own way around campus. Tours of the entire campus, as well as tours of several campus interest points, including WSOU, Seton Hall’s award-winning Pirate Radio station, the Stillman School of Business’s Market Research Center, and the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, will take place throughout the day. Please visit the Information Tent on the Green for more information.
