South Orange Welcomes New Residents Sunday

South Orange Village Newcomers Day will run from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the South Orange Public Library.

The South Orange Library will be hosting a "Newcomers Day" for new South Orange residents on Sunday, Sept. 22 from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Co-sponsored by The South Orange Board of Trustees and The Community Relations Committee (the CRC), its going to be a great day with “new happenings,” “first evers” while carrying on a 30 + year tradition of welcoming new arrivals, said Nancy Heins-Glaser.

“Welcome to South Orange Day” helps introduce you to “Your Village” and “Fellow Villagers.“ Learn how to interact with your leaders in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Music, food, and children’s activities are part of the fun.

Very short warm official intros are interspersed with special guests from 1:30 – 3:00. Join in a book signing with Dr. Sampson Davis (co-founder of Three Doctors Foundation). On hand will be Vanderbilt U’s PhD candidate Nicole Nelson sharing why South Orange is a unique, vibrant and sellable community.

Get a handy resource guide, meet past Villagers of the Month (VOMs), record your story for the Library’s South Orange Wikipedia project; reps from 60 + volunteer orgs/non profits will share why they “want you.” Watch the introductory demo of one of SOPLs unique equipment purchases which might just make SOPL the envy of even larger metro libraries.
