The South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) is a regional non-profit arts center presenting cultural experiences through music, theater, dance, comedy, and family performances and arts education programs.

The Marketing Manager works full-time with the Director of Marketing & Communications to create and execute strategic marketing plans for SOPAC performances, build awareness of performances and programs through community outreach, design promotional materials for SOPAC performances, increase ticket sales, and cultivate local businesses and organizations to get involved at SOPAC.

 

This position provides an excellent opportunity to see immediate results from your work. As part of a fast-paced, non-profit organization that presents over 90 performances each year, you’ll gain experience with a broad range of marketing functions, including media planning/buying, design & production of marketing materials, database marketing, customer relationship management (CRM), and e-commerce.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

-Act as the main day-to-day point of contact for vendors (e.g. printers, media sales reps), freelancers (street team), and interns.


-Create and update design templates for advertisements, postcards, posters, program inserts and flyers for performances. Oversee and track the project schedule, including submission of final artwork to printers and publications. 


-Create and send out weekly SOPAC emails, promoting upcoming performances and membership opportunities.

 

-Maintain and update SOPAC website, Facebook and Twitter sites with event announcements, articles, membership info, etc.  Sustain ongoing dialogue between social media users and continue to build connections through new social media platforms. 

 

-Schedule, track and maintain online advertising through social media, search engines, and regional sites.

 

-Work with Box Office staff to ensure that event information and promotion codes are clearly understood and accurately entered in the ticketing system.

 

-Reach out to various local and regional organizations and companies, and develop relationships to attract potential new audience members and increase sales. 

 

Qualifications:
BA/BS degree required
Knowledge of NJ arts community preferred
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

Intermediate knowledge of HTML
Experience with various social media platforms, utilizing Google AdWords and Facebook Advertising
Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Reliable and self-motivated
Exceptional communication & organizational skills

Minimum of 2 years experience in marketing, communications, design, audience development or similar field.
