973-763-2229

Listing Manager: Raul Saade

Cait & Abby's Daily Bread is an all-kosher bakery that makes you want to stop and stay for a while. The aroma alone is a treat! The busiest times are in the morning when commuters stop in to get their morning coffee and pastry before bounding up to the NJ Transit train on the platform above.

For 14 years, under rabbinical supervision (the rabbi comes once a week), Raul Saade's bakery has served bread, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, pies and coffee. Soups, salads and sandwiches are also available. At the end of the day, leftover pastries are donated to shelters.

I don't understand how the workers there can be so consistently unpleasant and rude. My wife and I are kind and generous people, but whenever we walk in there to purchase something, the two women who work there regularly appear to be unhappy people, who give us the attitude that they are doing us a favor by serving us. Then they have the audacity to put a tip jar on the counter.

Cait and Abby's is my go-to-place for fresh baked breads; I especially like their regular White loaf (could make a converter out of anyone). Their pastries are fairly good as well. Quiche is also decent but not good enough to recommend. All in all, it is a very solid bakery.

Bad Customer Service Experience!

I called 2 weeks prior to my child's birthday to ask if they could do a football themed cake, and the person on the phone said they could do anything we wanted right down to a certain team decoration. Basically, he said it was no problem.

When I went in the store the week of the birthday to place the order, they scoffed when I asked for green icing to represent the grass and a football player on the 10-inch round cake. I said I understood that there were limitations on the size because it wasn't a full sheet cake. But they just seemed annoyed that I was asking for any sort of custom decoration at all. They preferred to show me how annoyed they were with me asking for something different rather than really telling me what they could do to make it work. I said, "Look, I don't need a full football field represented or a specific player. It's a birthday cake for a 2 year old and we'd like something besides a giant football. I want to make this work." They just didn't care. I canceled my order and found another bakery that was open to making something work for me. Thinking back, one of the employees even told me they don't like to do custom decorations on the round cakes because "there is no room and no one ends up liking what they can fit on the cake."
