Our Lady of Sorrows School
973-762-5169
Founded in 1890, the school is connected to Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Though the vast majority of teachers are laypeople (only the principal and one other teacher are nuns), it's a Catholic institution that inspires strong devotion in its alumni. Graduating eighth graders go on to attend schools such as St. Peter's Prep, Seton Hall Prep, Roselle Catholic, Mount Saint Dominic, Union Catholic, Montclair Kimberly, Mother Seton, St. Benedict's Prep, Morristown Beard, Immaculate Conception, Oak Knoll, Oratory Prep, Lacodaire, Marist, Mount St. Mary's Academy, Regis, Villa Walsh, Marylawn, Xavier and St. Vincent's Academy.
The largest class has 25 students; the smallest has 14. A science lab is available for grades K through 5. The school has a hot lunch program. Sister Judith Blair has been principal since 2007. The school is also equipped with a state-of-the-art computer lab along with a number of smartboards in different classrooms.
There's a full-time nurse and a climbing wall in the gym.
