The student body of South Mountain School is comprised of grades 2-5 and full-day kindergarteners; half-day kindergarteners and first graders attend South Mountain Annex, but the administration is the same for the two schools. The principal is Thomas Gibbons. The Cultural Arts Committee of the PTA books assemblies for the school, which usually take place on Wednesdays. Past programs include "Spotlight on Opera", a Liberty Science Center presentation and an artist-in-residence program. Statistics are taken from the 2006-2007 New Jersey school report card.
