Columbia High School (CHS) has students from South Orange and Maplewood. Dr. Lovie Lilly is the principal. Famous gradsMore (and inductees to the CHS Hall of Fame) include Lauryn Hill ('93), Elisabeth Shue ('81), Andrew Shue ('85) and Paul Auster ('65). One of the most recent improvements to the school was converting the industrial arts section in the B-wing into a Black Box Theater used by the school's Parnassian Society for theater productions. Columbia competes in the Iron Hills Conference and is historically strong in soccer and track and field.

Memorial Park is adjacent to the train tracks and is located just a few blocks from the Maplewood border and ColumbiaMore High School. It's a small refuge just off busy Valley Street, not to be confused with Maplewood's much larger Memorial Park (also on Valley). It has swingsets, a jungle gym, benches and picnic tables.
