Clinton School Welcomes Artist-in-Residence

Students at Clinton Elementary school spent time this spring working with nationally-known clay artist Cliff Mendelson

Students at Clinton Elementary school spent time this spring working with nationally-known clay artist Cliff Mendelson as they participated in the school’s ninth annual PTA-sponsored Artist-in-Residence grant. Over the course of several sessions, each fourth  grade class spent time learning about ways in which different countries and cultures have used clay for making everyday objects as well as for decorative use.  They also learned a range of different techniques for designing, shaping, and firing pieces which were then shown in a gallery tour at the school on May 10. Funded by a grant from the Clinton School PTA, the grant brought Mendelson to school for three days, during which he worked with each class for 90 minutes.  In the first …

Clinton School Reopens Thursday

Power has been restored; students will have full day Thursday and Friday.

  The following was sent by SOMSD: Hello Clinton community,  I am delighted to share the good news that power has finally been restored to Clinton School!  I want to thank you all for your resiliency and flexibility today as we got back to teaching and learning. Our teachers, staff, and students demonstrated their dedication to each other as they worked hard to get back to normal!!  I send a special thank you to our friends and colleagues at Jefferson and Seth Boyden who hosted our Clinton kids, teachers, and staff.  Students and staff should report to Clinton at the normal arrival time tomorrow, Thursday November 8, 2012.  For safety reasons as we continue to clean up from the storm, if you are walking, please walk your child all the way …

Hats Off to Earth Day at Clinton School

Clinton Elementary celebrated Earth Day on Friday, April 20, with a parade of children wearing hats made of recycled materials.

Clinton Elementary School celebrated Earth Day on Friday with a variety of earth-friendly activities. The Earth Day Hat Parade was back again this year, and students in kindergarten through second grade marched outside the school modeling their amazing hat creations, all completely made out of recycled materials. Third grade students are busy working on inventions to protect the environment and fourth and fifth grade students created original Earth Day poems that are being entered in the New Jersey 2012 Recycling Poetry Contest.
