Spared from Sandy

South Orange and Maplewood residents walked through downtown South Orange Tuesday night as businesses reopened to a hungry crowd.

Some Maplewood and South Orange residents were still without power as of Tuesday night but they won't let Sandy keep them from a good meal. The Achee family went to Village Trattoria for a few slices of pizza while their home remains in the dark. Seton Hall University students said they were surprised to see downtown South Orange bustling with open businesses. A group of Freshman students said they didn't lose power and felt safe from the storm in the shelter of their dorm rooms. They were enjoying the day off from class Tuesday night and said tomorrow is for finishing those papers and watching more movies — a welcome break from school.
