Well Heeled and Pumped Up: The Rise of Women’s Shoes talk, plus Shoe Drive for Soles 4 Souls Charity takes place at Durand-Hedden on Sunday, January 27 1 – 4 p.m. At 2 p.m. Rachelle Bergstein, author of Women From the Ankle Down: The Story of Shoes and How They Define Us will present this stylish illustrated talk on shifting footwear trends through the 20th century that examines the growing prominence of shoes in American culture, and how it affects everything from price tags to heel heights. She looks at the runways, red carpets and sidewalks to understand what shoes tell us about the women who wear them.
