The community is invited to participate in the 5th Annual Supermarket Sweep “FOODRAISER” on Sunday, March 3, which will benefit the Oheb Shalom Pantry.
The Bobrow Kosher Food Pantry at Oheb Shalom Congregation in South Orange and the Jewish Family Service of Central NJ (JFS Central) Food Pantry in Elizabeth have served an unprecedented number of people — an average of 400-500 individuals a month. The pantries have received and responded to more than 1,000 requests for emergency food this past year. With emergency food requests increasing and government funding decreasing, the kosher food pantries need additional donations to keep stocked. To restock the pantries, the community is invited to participate in the 5th Annual Supermarket Sweep “FOODRAISER” on Sunday, March 3, at the ShopRite of Clark. A memory of a mother and the experience of trauma lead a local man to a better life.
Anthony DiMurro thinks cancer was the best thing that ever happened to him. Before the sickness, he was, by his own reckoning a “rogue.” He took chances and shortcuts. He became a Teamster. Cargo had a …

Each week about 100 families are provided with food; volunteers spend the previous week packing brown paper grocery bags with cereal, a roll of paper towels or …

OLS Food Pantry has a desperate need for food or money
The Our Lady of Sorrows food pantry has run out of food. Demand in the community is so high that the cupboard is bare. Each Saturday morning, about 100 families are provided with food; volunteers spend the previous week packing brown paper grocery bags with cereal, a roll of paper towels or toilet paper, macaroni and cheese, pasta sauce, pasta, soup, canned vegetables, tuna, spam, peanut butter and jelly, and rice. Each family receives a bag and usually some extra items, as well. "We like to give personal items such as toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant," explains a volunteer. The pantry is, literally, that, a small room with shelves on two sides, and freezers at the far end. When people come on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., volunteers…
